In Alberta, even publically-funded programs require co-payments or deductibles, which have proven to reduce access.<br \/>\n\u200b<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/angusreid.org\/prescription-drugs-canada\/\">21 percent of respondents in Alberta\u00a0<\/a>said they or someone else in their household hadn\u2019t taken medication as prescribed because they couldn\u2019t afford to.<\/li>\n<li>Public spending in Alberta covers less than half the cost of prescription medicine.<\/li>\n<li>An estimated\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wellesleyinstitute.com\/publications\/low-earnings-unfilled-prescriptions\/\">one in three of the province\u2019s 2,301,100 workers \u2013 767,033 \u2013 don\u2019t have health benefits<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In Canada,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wellesleyinstitute.com\/publications\/low-earnings-unfilled-prescriptions\/\">only about 27 percent of part-time workers have prescription drug coverage<\/a>.
