Supporting Our Members Affected by the Wildfires in Alberta

Dear Members of the IAMAW,

I hope this message finds you safe and well. As you are all aware, Alberta is currently facing significant challenges due to wildfires ravaging parts of our province. In times like these, it's crucial for us to come together as a community to support one another.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) stands in solidarity with our members and their families who have been, or may be, affected by these devastating wildfires. Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted, and we want to assure you that we are here to aid and support in any way we can.

To assist our members during this difficult time, I want to bring your attention to several resources available for disaster relief and recovery support (including but not limited to):

    1. Municipal Wildfire Assistance Program: (https://www.alberta.ca/municipal-wildfire-assistance-program
    2. Disaster Financial Assistance and Recovery Support: https://www.alberta.ca/disaster-assistance-and-recovery-support
    3. Alberta Emergencies Registration: https://emergencyregistration.alberta.ca
    4. IAMAW Disaster Relief Brochure: https://www.goiam.org/disaster-relief-guides/#allguides
    5. IAMAW Disaster Relief Guide for Canadian Territory https://iamdocs.org/bookcase/nmsew/

These resources offer valuable information and assistance for those in need. Whether it's financial aid, recovery support, or guidance on navigating through this challenging time, please know that help is available.

Additionally, if you require further assistance or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our union representatives (the Stewards, Executive Board Members or Business Representatives). We are here to support you and will do everything we can to help you and your families recover from this crisis.

Let us stand together as a strong and resilient community, supporting one another through these challenging times. Our union is a family, and we will get through this together.

In solidarity,
